The park bench I swear was wooden is now metal, and my morning jog confirmation feels like a win
I've been jogging past that bench for years, always noting its worn wood. Spotting it as shiny metal today was surreal, but chatting with a regular confirmed my memory. It's a small victory in trusting my own perceptions.

Yeah but worn wood can look like painted metal after years of rust. I’ve seen that at my park where the paint chips away in sheets. Still feels good when someone backs up your memory though.

Totally, our brains just file stuff under "old and weathered" sometimes. Like how peeling paint and splintery wood can both get that same chalky texture. Makes sense that memories would blur the details but keep the feeling right.

Check old family photos if you have any, they often catch those textures before your brain smooths them over.
