Flash floods are brutal for fossil hunting. I remember finding a near complete trilobite and then tripping over my own boots to drop it into a creek. Talk about adding insult to injury, right? Your perfect ammonite probably became a gift for the next hunter downriver. At least we get to keep the memory and the mud on our pants.

Imagine how flash floods actually refresh fossil sites over time. They wash away old debris and uncover new layers (even if we lose some finds like @alice269's trilobite). It's like nature's way of keeping the hunt exciting for everyone.

Love how floods keep the hunt fresh!
