Found a perfect quartz cluster during a job, now I'm debating if I should keep it.
I was helping a client move near a geological site and spotted this nice quartz. Part of me wants to add it to my collection, but I know it probably should stay put. My truck is already full of other people's stuff, so what's one more rock?

Why not take it? It's a single piece from a huge area. No one will even notice it's gone. You spotted it while doing your job, that's like a bonus. It'll get more love on your shelf than sitting in dirt. Those rules are for people taking truckloads, not one cool rock. Just toss it in with the other stuff.

Leave it there. You could get fined and mess it up for everyone else. Just take a photo.

Hold up, taking rocks from a geological site is usually against the rules. Those areas are protected so everyone can enjoy them and scientists can study them. If you remove that quartz, you're damaging the site for others. It's not worth the risk of a fine or trouble.
