Construction digging next door showed a fault line in the bedrock
They were prepping the ground for a new house foundation. The dig exposed a clean fracture in the rock that runs right through the property. How do you all record these temporary geology sights before they get buried again?

Our town paved right over some dinosaur prints.

Grab a piece of the actual rock from the fracture line. Having a physical sample to show the grain and fracture surface beats any photo.

Totally get what you mean about a physical sample beating photos. My friend once tried to map a fault line just from pictures for his geo class, but it was a mess. When he actually brought back a rock from the site, the instructor could see the stress marks up close and it clarified everything. That hands-on piece made all the difference.
