I cut my email length in half and finally got some responses
I was feeling stuck because my freelance pitches kept getting ignored, and it was starting to worry me. I used to think longer emails showed I was serious, so I'd write paragraphs about my skills. Then, I was reading a blog post about something else, like time management, and it mentioned that people are busy. That got me thinking maybe I was just adding to the noise. So, I tried making my emails super short, just saying hello, what I do, and asking if they needed help. I sent out a bunch last week, and to my surprise, three people wrote back wanting to talk. It's not a huge deal, but it really made my day and gave me hope. Now I'm sticking with this approach because it actually works.

That makes sense, since most people just skim emails anyway.

Totally get why that worked for you. It's less about people skimming and more about respecting their limited time. Getting straight to the point shows you value their schedule.

xena_ross79 is right about skimming, short stuff just cuts through the noise better.
