Bought a cheap knockoff pouring shank for aluminum, it warped on the third pour.
Wasted about $40 and had to scrap a whole batch of small castings. Anyone have a go-to brand for basic tools that actually holds up?

Totally agree with cameronjenkins, you need real heat treated steel.

Cheap tools often skip proper heat treatment to save money. That aluminum shank probably couldn't handle the thermal cycling at all. Stick with known brands from a real industrial supplier, not random online junk.

Ugh, that's the worst. Cameronjenkins is right about the heat treatment. I see this with cheap furniture dollies all the time, they bend under a normal load because the metal isn't right. You pay less up front but you end up buying it twice.
