Vent: When tile corners lift right after you set them

Had this happen on a bathroom job last month, the tiles just wouldn't stay flat. I started troweling a little extra thin-set under the high spots before moving to the next tile. It levels them out while everything is still wet. Now the floor is smooth, and I didn't have to tear anything up later.

That old tile guy at Ferguson's always blamed lippage on large format tiles.

Smart fix for a common headache.

Ugh that's the worst feeling. So you're basically back-buttering just the corners as you go? How do you make sure you don't end up with too much mortar and push the tile even higher? I'd be scared of making the lippage worse if my timing was off.
