I used a heat gun to fix a small vinyl plank bubble and it made things worse

I had a tiny bubble in a new LVT floor from a job last month. Instead of pulling the whole row, I tried a trick I saw online: warming it with a heat gun for maybe 30 seconds to soften the glue. It worked at first, but the next day the plank had shrunk and pulled away from the others, leaving a gap. I learned that spot heat can mess with the material's shape. Has anyone found a better fix for a single plank bubble without a full redo?

My bathroom floor had the same issue with a single plank lifting last winter. I also tried the heat gun method and ended up with a worse gap, just like you described. It seems like the adhesive gets too soft in one spot and the whole piece moves. I had to finally cut out that one plank and glue in a replacement, which was a pain but it held. Next time I'm just going to use a syringe of flooring adhesive right away.

Nah, cutting out the whole plank sounds like way too much work lol. A heat gun just needs a lighter touch, you probably held it too long in one spot. I'd try the heat again but keep it moving next time.
