Showerthought: Thought I'd save money mixing my own concrete for a 40-foot run...

Wasted $85 on materials and 3 afternoons because the batch kept cracking, should have just bought the pre-mix sacks from Home Depot in Phoenix has anyone else been burned trying to DIY the mix?

lol @dakota_patel98 is dead on, Phoenix heat just laughs at concrete. I tried doing a small walkway last summer and thought I was smart mixing my own too. Ended up with a cracked mess after two days because I didn't water it enough. Honestly the premix sacks from Home Depot are fine if you just pour them in the evening and cover with wet burlap. That's the real secret, not the mix itself.

Yeah "40-foot run" in Phoenix heat is brutal, you basically need to be dumping water on that stuff every couple hours or it's gonna crack no matter how good your mix is. Also Home Depot pre-mix is just gonna crack too unless you cure it right.

Ngl I had to read that twice, you're saying you gotta babysit it every couple hours in that heat? That's wild, I would've thought once it's set you're good. Guess I'm never attempting a slab in Arizona.
