The push for adhesive hoof wear is getting out of hand in my area.
I mean, maybe it's just me, but I keep getting calls for glue-on shoes instead of proper nailed work. It feels like horse owners are just jumping on a trend without knowing if it's right for their animal. Are we letting fancy new stuff replace tried and true methods?

Glue-on shoes? I just explain why nails often work better for their horse.

How many farriers still push glue-ons when nails work better? Totally with you on this. My mare had glue-ons once and they popped off in a week, but her nailed shoes last a full cycle. It's just less hassle and more secure. I don't get why anyone bothers with the glue method anymore.

But have you seen horses with really sensitive feet? @dylanh27, nailed shoes ARE reliable, but glue-ons can be NECESSARY for some cases. Like, my vet told me about a horse with thin soles where nails would cause bruising. Glue-ons let that horse walk without pain. Another time, a show jumper needed glue-ons because nail holes were cracking her hooves. So it's not about one being better, it's about what the horse actually needs.
