Bought a $400 forge welding kit that was total junk

I ordered one of those portable forge welding kits from a place called Ironclad Supply (never again) and it fell apart after maybe 10 uses. The regulator was leaking gas by the third week and the burners never got hot enough to weld anything thicker than a nail. Anyone else get burned by cheap farrier gear that just wasted your money?

I got a Mr. Volcano forge for $150 and it's still going strong after two years.

Yeah, no surprise there. That "forge welding" claim on those cheap kits is usually a stretch. A $400 setup that can't even weld a quarter inch bar is basically a scam. @stellachen mentioned the Mr. Volcano, which is a different animal since it's mostly for heat treating and small stuff, not forge welding. Even then, $150 getting two years of solid use is way better than what you got. It just sucks when you think you're getting a deal and end up with a fire hazard instead.

Yeah, I used to be skeptical but this honestly changes my mind.
