The way my uncle seasons his burgers tells a family story
I never got why we add cinnamon to the beef, but now I see it's from his time overseas. Making it today, I can almost hear him laughing in the kitchen.

Wow, that hits home. I notice it with little things, like how my grandma always put honey in her tea. She grew up during a sugar shortage, so that was her normal. Now I do it too, and it reminds me of her. Those tiny habits are like time capsules we carry around without even knowing.
