Saw a weird door gap at the courthouse in Springfield
I was at the old county courthouse in Springfield last week for jury duty. The elevator there had a solid inch gap between the car sill and the landing sill on the third floor. It was a traction unit, maybe from the 70s. Made me wonder if the guide rails are out of spec or if the leveling just drifted over time. Anyone run into a gap that big on a public building job?

Reminds me how we let basic maintenance slide everywhere. You see it with potholes, flickering streetlights, and now elevator gaps. It feels like we're just waiting for something bad to happen before anyone fixes anything.

Sounds like a major code violation. That gap is a serious trip hazard for anyone. They need to get that inspected fast.
