My buddy says skipping corner beads is fine for small rooms, but I had a wall crack bad last week lol. Who's right?

When I redid my laundry room, I skipped beads on one corner to save time. That corner cracked within a year, even in such a small space. Beads give strength to any drywall edge, so skipping them is asking for trouble. Your buddy's advice is how you end up with repairs instead of savings. Now you know for next time.

What if the crack happened from normal house movement or a bad mud job? Plenty of pros skip beads on inside corners without any issues. Those metal strips can actually create more problems if they aren't installed perfectly. A solid tape layer with good compound often provides enough strength. Your one cracked corner doesn't mean beads are always the answer.
