Why are home drainage solutions so weak compared to dredge gear?
Seriously, those store-bought pumps for wet basements are junk. I used my backup dredge pump last spring and it cleared three inches of water faster than I could mop.

@sageadams' neighbor showed heavy-duty pumps are way better. Why do we even bother with the weak store stuff?

You saying "store-bought pumps for wet basements are junk" really hits home. I always figured the home improvement store stuff was just fine for the job. But last year, my neighbor's sump pump failed and he hooked up this old industrial transfer pump he had for his pond. It was insane. My little utility pump was still sputtering while his had the whole crawl space dry in minutes. Totally changed how I see what "enough power" really means.
