Took me 6 hours to figure out a cutterhead clog that should have been 20 minutes

Had a job near a small creek in Ohio where the cutterhead kept bogging down in heavy clay. I spent half a day digging around in the suction line, checking the pump, even pulled the cutterhead. Turned out a rootball the size of a basketball was wedged in the intake bell housing, not even visible from the deck. Took one look from a guy who grew up on these machines and he spotted it in seconds. Anyone else had something obvious take way longer than it should have?

That rootball story is exactly my luck. Took way too long to find a simple fix.

Oh man, that's the worst when you finally find the fix and it was hiding in plain sight the whole time. How long did you actually spend digging before you stumbled on the answer? I swear sometimes the simplest solutions get buried under all the complicated ones.
