Shoutout to the crew that helped me pull a snapped cable off the main winch in Galveston Bay

We were pulling a full bucket when the cable snapped and wrapped around the drum. Took us four hours in the rain to cut it free and re-spool a new line. Anyone have a better method for clearing a full cable jam on a ladder dredge?

Man, that sounds like a brutal day on the water. Getting a full jam like that in the rain is the absolute worst kind of job. Four hours is a long grind, but honestly that's pretty standard for a bad snap and wrap. We've had to do the same slow cut and clear method before, and there's just no quick fix when it's packed in there tight. Major respect for you and your crew getting it sorted out.

Ever had one of those days where everything just fights you? We had a cable snap and bind up so bad once we needed torches to cut it out, and it still took forever. Sounds like you guys earned your pay that day for sure.

Remember when I thought those jobs were over fast? @jordan903, your story shows how wrong I was.
