Just realized my grandpa's old screwdriver trick still works better than anything modern

I was at my neighbor's house last Tuesday fixing his squeaky cabinet hinges and he pulled out one of those new ratcheting screwdrivers with the bits inside the handle. I brought my grandpa's old Craftsman screwdriver from the 60s instead because I couldn't find mine. It took me 30 seconds to tighten all three hinges while he spent 5 minutes figuring out which bit he needed. Has anyone else noticed that older tools sometimes just get the job done faster than all this fancy new stuff?

Used my grandpa's old hand brace to drill pilot holes last weekend while my buddy's new 18v drill kept dying on him. Nobody talks about how older tools were made to work without batteries or electricity at all. When the power goes out for three days after a storm, your fancy stuff is just dead weight whereas grandpa's stuff keeps going. Also everyone's so focused on safety standards but forget that old tools taught people to be careful and pay attention to what they were doing. Maybe the real danger is people relying on safety features instead of common sense.

My dad has the same kind of old craftsman screwdriver and I swear it's indestructible. I think it's a pattern with everything now, not just tools. Like my grandma's 1970s KitchenAid mixer still whips egg whites perfectly but my sister's new one with all the digital settings burned out after two years. Maybe we just stopped making things that are easy to fix and keep using because companies want us to buy replacements every season.

But wouldn't you say those older appliances could be dangerous with exposed wires and no safety features? A lot of that old stuff wasn't built to handle modern electrical loads or run for hours like we do now. Plus the newer models use way less electricity and are a lot lighter, so you're trading some durability for safety and efficiency.
