That $15 pack of fineliners I grabbed on a whim ended up being amazing for doodling on my desk calendar

I usually just use whatever random pen is lying around, you know, a Bic or something. But last month I was at the art supply store and saw a pack of 8 fineliner pens for $15 on clearance. They're not a fancy brand or anything, just generic ones from the discount bin. I figured why not, and honestly they've been a game changer for my daily desk doodles. The tips are super fine so I can draw tiny little cartoons in the margins of my to-do lists without bleeding through the paper. My favorite thing to doodle now is these little stick figure scenes from meetings I'm in (like the guy who talks too much, haha). Has anyone else found a random cheap pen that just clicked with how you draw?

You raise a good point about random cheap pens often being the best finds. Those clearance bin fineliners sound like a steal at that price, and it's nice when something so simple adds a bit of fun to the workday. Your stick figure meeting doodles gave me a chuckle, I can picture the guy who talks too much now.

I gotta disagree with "game changer" for a cheap set of fineliners. I picked up a similar clearance pack once and the tips frayed after like two days of light doodling, started getting fuzzy lines. If you're drawing stick figures they probably work fine, but try doing any real detail work and you'll just be frustrated with inconsistent ink flow and scratchy strokes.
