That time I tried to fix a squeaky floorboard and made it worse
I was in my hallway last Saturday, stepping over this one spot that's been driving me crazy for months. Figured I'd just screw it down from the top using some deck screws I had in the garage. Ended up hitting a pipe under the subfloor and had to cut a hole in the ceiling downstairs to patch it up. Took me three trips to Lowes and about 30 bucks in drywall supplies to undo the mess I made. Anyone else ever tackle a simple fix and end up with a whole new project?

My dad did the same thing except he hit an electrical wire and it sparked for like ten seconds.

Dude that SUCKS. I had a similar thing happen when I tried to hang a shelf and drilled straight into a water line. Water started spraying everywhere and I had to turn off the main valve for the whole house. My wife was NOT happy about taking cold showers for two days while I figured out how to patch the pipe. It's like every "quick fix" around the house is secretly a trap waiting to explode in your face. At least you didn't flood your basement like I almost did. You're not alone in this - that Lowes trip count sounds painfully familiar.
