Canned beans finally behaved after I learned the rinse trick

Last Tuesday I made my usual weeknight chili with a can of kidney beans and it came out tasting like tin can soup, but tonight I rinsed them under cold water for a full minute before adding them to the pot and the whole dinner turned out rich and clean, has anyone else tried this and noticed a big difference?

Oh honey, the rinse helps but the real trick is simmering them low and slow till they soak up the spices!
