My coworker in Denver said my inbox folders were a crutch, so I deleted them all

Last month my coworker watched me drag an email into one of my 12 folders and just laughed. She said I was spending more time filing than actually answering things, which honestly stung because I thought I was being organized. So I blew it all up, deleted every folder except the archive, and switched to search plus a simple priority flag. First week was chaos, I kept looking for the folders out of muscle memory, but by week two I noticed I was responding way faster. Turns out my system was just hiding stuff I was scared to deal with, not helping me handle it. Now I only keep a single 'waiting on' folder and honestly it feels like enough. Has anyone else ripped out their whole filing setup and gone raw search, or am I the only one who needed a blunt push like that?

Used to think folders were the only way, but this totally changes my mind.
