My 2019 photo dump folder had 4,287 pics so I had to do a purge day
Last Sunday I sat down to clean out my phone and found a folder called 'stuff' with over 4,000 random screenshots and blurry photos. I spent from 9am to 4pm deleting old receipts, duplicate memes, and photos of my dog from 2019 that looked exactly the same. My thumb actually cramped up from swiping left so much, which felt ridiculous. By the end I freed up 12GB of space, but I found a screenshot of a Home Depot coupon that expired in 2020, which made me laugh at my own procrastination. Anyone else have a folder where they just dump everything and forget about it for years?
Started off thinking you were overreacting until I actually looked at my own phone. Found a folder called 'screenshots 2' that had over 6,000 things in it from like 2018. My thumb got sore too and I ended up just deleting the whole folder without checking because it was too much. Now I understand why people do these purge days, it feels good to clear out all that junk. Probably going to make this a yearly thing from now on.
Exactly, that purge feeling is almost addictive once you get going. I did the same thing last month and found like 400 photos of my dog laying in the exact same spot on the couch, not even different angles or lighting, just the same picture repeated. My thumb cramped up too but I just massaged it and kept swiping because there was no way I was leaving that mess. Now I set a reminder on my calendar for the first of every month, just a quick 10 minute cleanup so it never gets that bad again.
