Cleared out 4,000 photos off my phone and only missed one

Ngl, I thought I was a normal person with like maybe 500 pictures. Then I checked my gallery and saw it was sitting at 4,217. Most of it was blurry screenshots and random memes from 2019. After deleting almost everything, the only one I actually went looking for was a receipt from a tool rental place. Has anyone else found that deleting stuff actually makes your phone feel faster or is it just placebo?

…and of course the one photo I saved was a blurry picture of my own foot from 2017 that I apparently took to check if my shoe was untied. I feel personally attacked by that receipt thing, because I've got a screenshot of a random parking garage level number that I've kept through three phone upgrades like it's a family heirloom. Deleting stuff does feel like the phone exhales, but honestly I think it's just the satisfaction of finally doing something about the chaos. Plus there's that little dopamine hit when you see the storage bar go from basically full to having actual space. The worst part is I know in a month I'll have another 500 screenshots of memes I never look at again, and I'll do this whole dance over. It's like cleaning out a closet, you feel great for a day and then you just fill it back up with junk.

You ever notice how the phone feels snappier right after a big cleanup? I read somewhere it's partly mental, but also because your storage gets less cluttered and the system isn't working as hard to thumb through all that junk. Same thing happens with my laptop when I finally clear out old downloads. The receipt thing is funny though, you always keep the weirdest stuff by accident. I deleted 2,000 photos last month and the only thing I missed was a picture of my dog's weird sleeping position.
