Sketching on a mountain changed my mind about digital art

I see a lot of folks in this community praising super clean and perfect travel art. I used to think that way too, until my last hike in the Colorado Rockies. I brought my tablet and tried to draw the view from a high ridge. My hands were shaking from the cold, and the lines came out wobbly and loose. Back home, I looked at that sketch next to my usual smooth, detailed pieces. The messy one just felt more alive, like it really captured the moment. Now I think showcasing art with rough edges can be more honest than flawless edits. It's okay if the picture isn't perfect, as long as it shows how the place made you feel.

You know how your hands shake when you're cold? Imagine trying to draw a straight line then. My sketches are so bad normally, that kind of wobble would just be an upgrade. I get what you mean about the messy sketch feeling more alive. When everything is too clean and perfect, it can lose the soul of the place. That rough edge stuff shows the real struggle of being there, which is what makes it honest. It's like the flaws tell the story better than any smooth edit could.

Thought smooth digital art was the best until I got caught in rain while drawing at the beach. My tablet got wet and the lines went all over the place, but that sketch stuck with me more than any clean piece. It showed the chaos of the storm and how I felt trying to capture it. Now I see the beauty in those messy moments, just like your mountain sketch. What other experiences made you value imperfection in art?
