The old timer who told me to stop using impact on injector bolts was right
Back in March at a shop outside Dayton, this retired guy named Hank watched me zipping out injector hold-down bolts on a 6.0 with my impact. He said, 'You'll be buying a thread insert kit by Friday.' I shrugged him off, but sure enough, I stripped the threads on the number 3 bore two days later. Cost me $140 for the kit plus a whole afternoon of drilling and tapping in a tight spot. Now I break those bolts loose by hand with a breaker bar and never touch them with power tools. Anyone else learn that lesson the expensive way before listening to the older hands?
