Pro tip: Everyone overlooks the city's facade grant program for Corktown buildings
I keep seeing owners in Corktown pay out of pocket for brickwork when the city has a grant that covers up to $15k. Found out about it from a contractor after I'd already paid for my own repairs last fall. Anyone else used this program or know the current wait time?

Man, you are so right. I watched my neighbor re-point his entire front facade by hand last summer, took him weeks. He had no clue about the grant until I showed him the city website after the fact. The paperwork looked annoying but for that much cash, it's worth a weekend of form-filling. My contractor buddy says the wait list is about four months right now, but they're processing apps faster than last year.

Totally used to think those grants were just for big fancy projects. Hearing your neighbor did all that work himself and still qualified is a game changer. Four months is a wait, but getting a big chunk of cash back makes it feel way more doable. Might actually look into it for my own place now.
