My desk went from disaster zone to actually functional in 20 minutes flat

My coworker spilled coffee on my keyboard yesterday and while I was cleaning it up, I finally tossed the 47 old receipts and three dead pens that had been living there for months. Anyone else have a mess that just sits there until something random forces you to deal with it?

Wait, isn't "20 minutes flat" a bit of an exaggeration for that cleanup?

Oh man, 20 minutes flat for that kind of mess? I've spent longer trying to find the lid to a storage bin. Either they had a cleaning crew hidden in the closet or they were using a leaf blower and a prayer. Could also be one of those "everything gets shoved into a black trash bag and hidden in the garage" situations, which is technically clean but definitely not a real solution.

So @the_alice, do you actually think the "shove it in a bag and hide it" method is more common than people admit? I've seen that happen so many times with my friends who claim they "cleaned" but really just moved the mess somewhere else. It drives me crazy because you walk into their garage and it's just piles of trash bags full of who knows what. That's not cleaning, that's just delaying the problem. And 20 minutes is definitely not enough time for a real deep clean unless they were just wiping surfaces and calling it done.
