Guy at the gym spent 20 minutes on one machine then got mad at me

I was at the YMCA in Maplewood around 6pm and this dude was on the leg press scrolling his phone for a solid 20 minutes between sets. I finally asked if I could work in between his sets and he snapped at me saying he was almost done, then took another 10 minutes. I just moved to a different machine but man, the entitlement gets to me. Anyone else have a go-to polite way to handle machine hogs without starting a scene?

20 minutes scrolling his phone" and you waited that long? Honestly I would've just asked way sooner or gone to another machine right away. Gym hogs are annoying but it's not worth getting bent out of shape over, you know?
