Shoutout to the vet tech who said I was overfeeding my beagle
Took my 4 year old beagle Rufus to the vet in Boise last Tuesday and the tech weighed him at 42 pounds, which is about 7 pounds over where he should be. She asked how much I scooped into his bowl and when I said two cups twice a day she kind of winced and said that was way too much for a dog his size. I felt bad but she was nice about it and wrote down a plan on a sticky note, one and a quarter cups twice a day plus switching half of it to green beans. Two weeks in and he has already lost almost a pound, but the funny part is he now sits by the fridge at 5pm staring at the veggie drawer like it owes him money. He also started doing this little hop when he hears the measuring cup come out, so at least somebody in this house is excited about portion control. My only worry is he acts hungry at night, so does anyone here mix in plain pumpkin or anything to help their dog feel more full?
