My cat used to ignore the laser pointer after 30 seconds flat.

Now he'll chase the red dot across the kitchen for a full 15 minutes, ever since I started hiding it under a rug to make it 'disappear'. Anyone else's pet get obsessed with a new game phase?

Isn't it wild how adding a little mystery hooks them? My dog was the same with a squeaky toy he got bored of until I started hiding it behind the couch cushions. That fake hunt for it totally reset his brain and now it's his favorite thing again. What's the longest your cat has kept up the chase?

Honestly I've had the opposite happen. Tried the whole hide-and-seek thing with my cat's feather wand and she just looked at me like I lost my mind. She watched it disappear under the blanket and then walked away. Some of them just don't buy into the fake hunt. Mine wants the real deal or nothing. She'll chase a bug for a solid hour though, that's her kind of mystery.
