Took me 15 minutes to pick between drawing my coffee mug or my cat, went with the mug
I sat at my desk with a blank page for 15 minutes trying to decide between the mug I've used every morning for 3 years or my cat who was sleeping right next to it. I picked the mug because it doesn't move, and somehow the wobbly handle turned out better than anything I drew all week. Do you usually go for the thing that stays still or the one that makes you work for it?
Man, I feel this in my bones. I spent a whole afternoon last month sketching my kitchen faucet instead of my dog because the faucet just sits there and lets me mess up in peace. The dog would've been 90 percent tail blur and regret. Still lifes are training wheels and there's no shame in it, plus you actually finish the thing.
