Found a trick for sketching hands using my own palm lines
I kept messing up hand poses in my afternoon doodles, so last Thursday I traced the creases on my own palm with a ballpoint pen and copied them onto the page. It made the fingers look way more natural because the lines gave me a map for where the knuckles bend. Has anyone else tried tracing body parts as a reference or is that too weird for this group?
Mirror trick works better if you use your non-drawing hand actually. I trace the outline of my own hand when I'm stuck on a weird angle, then sketch the details over that rough shape. Also try squinting at your palm so you only see the big creases, those are basically your roadmap for the finger joints.
