My grill grate collapse changed how I run the weekly pun vote

Last Saturday I fired up the Weber for burgers and the whole grate just dropped through the middle, bent like a cheap fork. That was right before I had to post our weekly dad joke winner, and I kept second guessing myself on the scores. It hit me that I was overthinking the judging, same way I overestimated that grate's strength. Now I just tally the laughs out loud with my kids and pick the loudest groan, no spreadsheets. Anyone else had a kitchen fail that made you simplify how you do something else?

Wait, is it just me or does every kitchen disaster come with a life lesson attached like a free side dish nobody ordered? My air fryer once caught fire on the same day I was supposed to rank the best parks in town, and I spent the whole vote staring at smoke stains on the ceiling. Ended up tossing my color-coded scoring sheet and just letting people yell out their top pick. Now I judge everything by who talks the loudest, which is probably why my neighbors think I'm crazy when I cheer for a decent trash can. Your grill story makes me want to double check my own gear before I embarrass myself in front of the kids. So, what's the dumbest thing you've ever trusted to hold up, literally or otherwise, that turned out to be a total flop?
