Wait till someone returns a half-eaten birthday cake, then you'll get it
I used to say yes to every return within 30 days, no receipt needed. Then last Tuesday a lady handed me a cake with two slices gone and said 'it tasted stale', so now I check everything and ask a manager for anything over $40. Has anyone else had to lock down their return policy over one specific jerk?
Two slices gone" is the part that gets me. If she'd taken one bite and said it was stale, sure, maybe. But two full slices in and then deciding it's not good? That's not a return, that's finishing your dessert and asking for your money back. Your move to check everything and pull a manager in over $40 sounds about right, and honestly most stores that got burned like that end up doing the same thing. One person ruins it for everybody, that part never changes.
