Client wanted me to clean her whole condo in 90 minutes, then hired the crew that takes 4 hours
This lady in Beaverton booked me for a deep clean, then texted me the morning of asking if I could finish everything in 90 minutes since she had guests coming at noon. I told her a full 2 bed, 2 bath with two cats takes me about 4 hours if I do it right, and she said that was too long so she cancelled.
Two weeks later she called back and said the other crew she hired was in and out in 45 minutes with a flat rate of $75 and her bathroom still smelled like cat. I went back and spent 4 hours on it, charged my normal $180, and she actually apologized.
What gets me is she knew the fast crew was cutting corners the whole time, she just wanted to believe the cheap quick version would work. Anyone else deal with clients who pick speed over done right, then act shocked when it looks bad?
She "knew the fast crew was cutting corners the whole time"? Nah, that's you guessing after the fact. From her side she had guests coming at noon, a clean condo is a clean condo, and $75 for 45 minutes sounds like a steal until you actually look at your toilet bowl. Half the people booking house cleaning have never scrubbed a shower in their life, they have zero clue how long cat hair and litter dust take to get out of grout, so it's not like she's sitting there going "I bet this guy is scamming me." And real talk, your 4 hours vs their 45 minutes is a 5x gap, most folks are gonna roll the dice on those odds at least once, that's just basic math. She came back and paid your $180 and said sorry, which means the system worked, so I don't get the rant.
