Traffic hold-up turned my crane op into a patience test

Last month, I was on a bridge job over the highway, set to lift a big concrete section. Everything was lined up, but traffic control had issues and made us wait for hours before we could start. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me, but sitting in the cab that long gets you thinking about every little detail. I went over my rigging plans again and checked all the crane's settings to kill time. It actually helped because I noticed a potential swing problem with the load path. When we finally got the go-ahead, the lift went off without a hitch because of that extra look. Has anyone else had a delay that ended up saving your skin? Or do these waits just make the day drag on?

Those traffic delays suck, but your extra check saved the day.

My buddy's traffic jam was saved by his secret stash.

Always feels better having a backup plan.
