Rant: My roommate swore I could not freeze cooked rice, and I wasted 4 months making fresh batches
Back in January my roommate watched me box up leftovers and said cooked rice turns into poison if you freeze it. I believed her for 4 months and cooked a fresh pot almost every other day, which ate up way more time than I want to admit. Then I had 5 cups of jasmine rice left from a Sunday batch and said forget it, into the freezer it went. Two weeks later I pulled it out, microwaved it with a splash of water and a wet paper towel, and it was honestly better than day old takeout rice. Now I cook 6 cups at once, freeze it flat in quart bags, and fry it with eggs and frozen peas on busy nights. The whole reason I joined this group is big batch rice and I was doing the opposite of that. What actually does not survive your freezer?
