The 4 PM faucet leak that flipped my whole stance on PEX

I was rerouting a kitchen supply under a slab in Charlotte last Friday, called the homeowner to say copper was the only way, then my backup wrench snapped and flooded the crawlspace, so I grabbed the PEX expansion tool I always mocked and finished in 20 minutes, now I'm wondering if anyone else switched teams this fast after a real failure?
