The $12 laser level I ignored for 6 months cost me a whole ceiling repaint
Started using a cheap laser level on a kitchen remodel in Denver last month. Turns out I was setting it up on the high spot of the floor every time, so my lines were drifting about a quarter inch across 12 feet. The tile guy finally said, "You know that thing is lying to you, right?" Fixed the setup, and now the cabinets line up perfectly. Has anyone else had a tool they trusted for too long before realizing it was the operator, not the equipment?

Drove myself crazy for months with a crooked chalk line before I realized I was pulling the string at an angle every time. Blamed the tool, blamed the wall, finally it was just me being sloppy. Now I double check everything like a paranoid person.
