Job site in Phoenix lost 3 days because we parked the pump truck on the wrong side, now I draw the approach before I call dispatch
Two weeks ago at a tilt up job off 51st Ave, we had the concrete pump show up and couldn't get the boom to reach the far wall because the truck was boxed in by the rebar delivery. Cost us 3 days and about $4,800 in standby time for the crew. What fixed it was embarrassingly simple: I started sketching the truck approach and outrigger spots on a legal pad before I even call dispatch, plus a photo of the gate. The dispatcher now routes me the smaller pump when the drawing shows a tight approach, and we haven't eaten a standby charge since. Does anyone else do a pre call site sketch, or is sending a pin drop usually enough for you?
