The 2001 anthrax attacks keep getting linked to the wrong suspect in online threads

I keep seeing people say it was definitely a foreign lab leak, but the FBI's main suspect was a U.S. Army researcher named Bruce Ivins. The evidence was based on a specific genetic match to the flask in his lab at Fort Detrick. Why do so many debates skip over the actual investigation details? Has anyone else dug into the DOJ's 2008 report on this?

Honestly, who even cares about that old case anymore?

Actually, a lot of folks still care (it set a big legal rule). Seems pretty key to remember.

Totally agree with @abbyg60 that people still care, it's a huge deal. The FBI case against Ivins was pretty solid with the genetic match, but he killed himself before trial so we never got a full court airing of the facts. That gap is why all the wild theories keep growing online, because the official story feels unfinished. People skip the DOJ report because a closed case with loose ends is frustrating, so they jump to simpler answers like a foreign lab. We should really push for more people to read that 2008 report instead of just repeating rumors.
