Pro tip: got roasted on a forum for saying jet fuel melts steel beams, so I finally read the actual NIST report
Someone on a debate board in 2022 called my argument lazy and told me to read the NIST report before running my mouth again. So I pulled up the 2005 building code study and the 2008 WTC 7 report and actually read the summaries line by line. Turned out I was repeating a line I heard from a guy at a jobsite and never checked it myself, and the reports explain way more than I expected about the fireproofing and the connections. Now I ask people for page numbers before we argue about anything structural. Has anyone else been made to eat their words on a conspiracy claim by actually reading the source doc?
