I remember when conspiracy theories were just in fringe magazines and late night radio
Back in the early 90s, I used to pick up a copy of Weekly World News at the grocery store checkout for my dad. Now I see full documentaries on streaming services claiming the same stuff as fact. I think the internet and social media algorithms really blew the whole thing up over the last 20 years. Do you think the quality of conspiracy theories has gotten better or worse since the pre internet days?

Honestly, I used to think the old tabloid conspiracies were harmless fun, but then I saw how those same ideas get spread as fact on social media with zero fact checking. It really changed my mind about how dangerous this stuff can be when algorithms amplify the wildest claims to millions of people. I miss when you had to actually buy a magazine to read about bat boy, now it's everywhere.

Oh man, so now instead of paying a dollar fifty for questionable journalism at the checkout line, we get it force fed to us for free on every feed. What a bargain.
