Struggled with cold weather curing until I tried insulating blankets
Ngl, wrapping the slab right after finishing stopped it from cracking in the cold.

Speaking of learning things the hard way, my first cold-weather pour involved using a cheap plastic tarp way too early. Ended up with a weird, weak skin on top that felt like soggy cardboard, a real messy lesson in patience.

How long did it take to figure out the right wait time? I had a similar soggy cardboard phase myself.

Wait, are you wrapping it right when the concrete is still wet? I learned the hard way you actually want to wait until the bleed water evaporates. If you cover it too soon, you can trap moisture and weaken the top layer. I let the sheen disappear first, then put the blankets down. That middle step made a huge difference for me.
