My pour crew hit 100 slabs in one season and I think that number is the biggest lie in finishing
We wrapped a warehouse job outside Gary back in October and the super made a big deal about our crew hitting 100 pours since spring. Thing is, I counted and only about 60 of those were real interior slabs, the rest were little pads, curb sections, and equipment bases we knocked out in an afternoon. Nobody wants to hear it because the number looks good on the company newsletter, but chasing pour count pushes guys to rush the finish and skip the curing. I would rather hang my hat on 40 slabs with zero callbacks than 100 with a crew that is already burned out by August. Does anyone else's outfit keep score this way, and does it actually make your work better or just your meetings?
Tbh I used to eat that stuff up and thought big numbers meant we were killing it out there. Then a super rushed us through a pour and we got callbacks on half the floor, and that was the moment it clicked for me that pour count is just a meeting stat. Give me a crew that finishes clean and goes home at a normal hour over a newsletter number every time.
