Blew out a 4 inch bull float on a driveway pour in Fresno
Was finishing a 30 yard slab last Tuesday when the handle snapped clean off the bracket. Thing was only 8 months old. Had to have my helper run to the rental place and grab another while I used a magnesium hand float to hold the cream until he got back. Set us back about 45 minutes and I lost the good closing window. Has anyone else had luck repairing those brackets or is it just a disposable part now?

I snapped one the same way last spring on a 5 yard sidewalk pour. The bracket looked fine until I leaned on it wrong and the metal just gave up, like it was made of wet cardboard. I tried welding it back once, and it held for about a week before cracking right next to the weld. Honestly, I think they make those brackets thin on purpose so you buy a whole new float every season. My repair attempt cost me more in time and bad words than just buying a new one would have.
