The express bus stop at 5th and Main that I always ignored has a hidden shelter in the alley behind it
I ducked in there during a downpour Tuesday and found six plastic chairs, a folded tarp, and a coffee stain on the floor that looked like someone drew a smiley face with it, so who else has secret commuter spots they keep quiet about?

That's exactly what I did with my spot behind the old library downtown. I found it by accident one day when my car broke down and I needed a place to wait for a tow truck. It's just a little nook behind the dumpster with a slab of concrete that stays dry because of the overhang above it. I brought in a milk crate to sit on and stuck a plastic bag with a granola bar and a bottle of water inside it, just in case. The key is to get there before 8am or after 6pm, because the lunch crowd from the sandwich shop next door will see you and it ruins the whole hidden vibe. The coffee stain smiley face is a good sign honestly, it means nobody's treating it like a garbage dump.

Ha, a coffee stain smiley face sounds like your personal welcome mat. Is that spot better in the morning or afternoon for not getting busted?
