The 7 train platform got noticeably worse after they added that second staircase

I mean, before the renovation last spring I could find a spot near the middle doors easily. Now everyone funnels to the new stairs at 82nd Street and the crowding before 8am is nuts, like 3 times what it used to be. Did the MTA really think adding an exit wouldn't push people into a bottleneck on the other side? Has anyone else seen their stop change for the worse after a so-called upgrade?
