Pro tip: my bus card quit working in the rain at 7am in Seattle and a bum's advice fixed it
Last week my Orca card just died on me at the stop on 3rd and Pine. It was pouring and I tapped it like 4 times and the reader kept flashing red. I was about to pay the $2.75 cash fare when a guy sitting nearby said to wipe the chip with my shirt. Turns out water got in the little plastic sleeve I keep it in and the chip was wet. I dried it off and it worked on the first tap. Now I keep it in a ziplock bag inside my jacket pocket. I also started keeping a backup card in my bag because being stuck 20 minutes from home with no way to pay is the worst. Has anyone else had their transit card stop working because of rain or am I the only one who keeps it in a wet pocket?
